With beautiful summer evening light, big blue eyes, bare feet in the freshly mowed grass and a farm full of animal friends to share in the fun, my session with the L. family was a wonderful way to kick off my summer sessions!

Little C. was an absolute doll and the perfect subject! It was a joy to see her light up while interacting with her family's crew of rescued animals including horses, goats, donkeys, pigs, dogs and even an albino burmese python!

A big thank you to the L. family for opening your home and allowing me to capture your lovely family!

What better way to end the summer than with a warm breeze, the sound of the water, the sand under your toes and a beautiful family! This family just loves the beach. Little A. was perfectly at home during our sunset beach session. Thanks so much to the F. family for making this session literally a day at the beach!

Summer Family

I just love family summer sessions! I was recently very lucky to have the opportunity to meet, spend time with and photograph this beautiful family. Little S. was just the sweetest, and I learned that while she loves stickers and lollipops, she loves her lovable dog even more!

Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk 2009

This past Saturday was Scott Kelby's 2nd Annual World Wide Photo Walk. The concept is simple. In cities all over the world people gathered with other folks in their area to walk the city and enjoy a few hours of photographing whatever strikes their fancy. This year Buffalo hosted a group of around 50 photographers and groups meeting in Grand Island and Niagara Falls added to that number. All in all, over 30,000 photographers worldwide, from hobbyists shooting with camera phones to pro's came out to participate, making this year's Photo Walk a huge success! Here are some of my images from this year...

Much of the Photo Walk offered opportunities to photograph some of the beautiful, character rich architecture available in the historic district. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE looking at gorgeous and unique old homes and buildings...I'm just not very good at photographing them. I never know what angle I should be using or quite how to compose the shot to make it interesting. This spiderweb was on the front porch of one such home. The house was beautiful...almost every other photographer on the walk has an awe inspiring shot of the house itself...but I'm the only one with a photo of the dirty spiderweb on the front porch..ha!

These were taken at a groovy little record shop where the window display was filled with old Beatles albums.

This gentleman was sitting outside of an assisted living facility and was one of the very few people who would allow me to take their picture. One sweet old woman sitting on her front porch was very kind and inquistive about all the folks lurking about with cameras until another photographer and I asked if we could snap her photo. She curtly told us no and then added in not to touch her cat either..lol! I thought this man's face had so much character and was such a drastic contrast from the young, fresh faces of children that I'm accustomed to photographing.

Here is the one other person who agreed to a photo..

I found this at a garage sale along the way. I really wanted to buy it too, but unfortunately had no way to carry it along with me. Sigh..I'll just have to treasure the memory.

As we walked along we stumbled upon this cozy little street lined with the most beautiful cottage homes. Each one was different and unique and they all had the most gorgeous gardens. This is where I found this neat little mailbox. I just love the colors and textures in this!

No story for this one..I saw it in the window of an antique shop and thought it was interesting.

I hesitate to post this one. Let me just preface this photo by saying that I once swore I would never, ever, ever (and I meant NEVER) use selective coloring on a photo. Creatively it goes against my deepest core beliefs. However..as I was editing this image it seemed it needed something to separate and add contrast to the wall and reflection. I'm still not sure how I feel about it though....

We ended our walk at the Bidwell Park Farmer's Market where I purchased a $7.00 jar of maple pumpkin butter. All in all the day was awesome! We had beautiful weather and made lots of new friends....oh, and the photography part was fun too!

Two Firsts..

This session marked two firsts for me! My first maternity session as well as the first time I've had the opportunity to photograph a fellow photographer!

This beautiful mama and her husband are expecting baby #4 very soon and it was such a blessing and an honor to be have the opportunity to do capture all their anticipation and excitement as they await their new arrival.

An Etsy Session!

Recently, a very talented friend of mine opened an Etsy shop to sell her wares which include pillowcase dresses, pillowcase tops, petal knot dresses and of course, tutus.

We gathered some of the most adorable models in town and held a session for her shop. The photos really don't do her clothes full justice. The fabrics, colors and details she creates with are not only high quality but exquisite too!
